Surya Namaskar starts with Pranamasana – the first step and it means the Prayer Pose. Begin by standing up straight on your mat and putting your feet close together. Next, relax your shoulders and inhale. When you exhale, lift your arms to the namaskar position and put your palms together. Hold your legs and hands tight.

Hastauttanasana

Now proceed to switch from the previous position to the pose of the Raised Arms. Inhale and raise your arms up in a way that places your biceps next to your ears. After you have done that, try stretching your whole body from your heels to your fingertips.

Hasta Padasana

Breathe out, and lean forward from the waist. Aim to touch the ground as you move down while ensuring your spine is erect at the same time. Continue doing this while pushing out all the air you’ve inhaled.

AshwaSanchalanasana

Stretch your legs behind you in order to do this Equestrean pose. Then fold your right knee and hold it near your chest. Position your hands on the ground, put your neck backward and set your gaze upwards.

Dandasana

Put your right leg behind you while placing your body in a straight line. Try keeping it parallel to the ground.

AshtangaNamaskar

Pull your knees to the ground as you exhale, slowly. Rest your chin and hands on the ground. Hold your hips high and ensure that your hands, knees, chin, and chest are touching the floor.

Bhujangasana

You need to align your chest and torso to the ground while holding your legs and mid-section on the ground to do the cobra pose. Continue by using your hands to support your body but make sure you’re not putting all your pressure on them.

Parvatasana

Lift your mid-section while maintaining your hands and feet where they already were. Exhale and change to this pose.

Ashwa Sanchalanasana

Take yourself to this position as you did in the 4th sequence, but the only change will be that now, while holding your left foot in its original position, move your right foot forward.

Hasta Padasana

For this step, try to bring your left foot forward and position it right next to your right foot. Use your hands and try to lift yourself up as you exhale.

Hastauttanasana

Lift your hands up and inhale. Then lean back a little and slightly hold your hips outward.

Pranamasana

As you prepare to move on to the final step, exhale and stand in a comfortable manner. Put your hands together and feel the wave of good energy flowing through you. This last step finishes one repetition of Surya Namaskar.
